We appreciate your interest in our premier tours, and look forward to having you join us soon on an upcoming Globetrotting Gourmet FoodTour to Asia. While we only offer three or four such trips annually, each is especially developed as a fun, unique adventure with the discerning traveller in mind. We stray off the beaten track to discover a country's culture through its food, opening doors to places that the individual tourist finds inaccessible without a knowledge of the local area and language. While we pride ourselves in our deluxe level of accommodation, on occasion we select unique, boutique locations that are preferable to the international hotel experience. Likewise, foods encompass both royal court banquets to street hawker fare. It is all part of the pleasure in travel.

These tours are small group affairs, strictly limited to between 8 and 16 persons, a size we find ideal. They are fully escorted by myself Robert Carmack, and partner Morrison Polkinghorne, plus a local translator. Our tours are inclusive:* that means all transportation, from private coach to airport transfers, and internal Asian airfares, are included in these packages. Naturally, daily breakfasts plus most meals. (In all honesty, you will be tasting so much!) But there is much, much more, from a luxury massage on arrival, to escorted tours of fabled sites, entry fees, walks through village markets discovering local foods and crafts, and special cooking demonstrations. Be prepared to don an apron! These are tours geared for everybody, layman and food professional alike.

But most importantly, our tours begin and end in Asia. These trips are marketed internationally, and we consequently attract a cosmopolitan group from Europe, America and Australia. Conveniently, you can arrange your own flights to join our tour -- or better yet, cash in mileage points to meet us there. If you are Australian-based, our wholesaler San Michele Travel can organize all your flight arrangements ex Australia, including travel insurance. Overseas passengers should arrange their own flights and insurance from their country of origin. After that, San Michele Travel takes care of the rest.

There are still seats available for our upcoming Globetrotting Gourmet FoodTour in late March! This next trip is particularly special, as we travel to four South East Asian countries, including a full week in Vietnam, plus the splendors of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, three days in the rustic royal capital of Luang Prabang in Laos, and Thailand. Like many of our tours, this one ends and begins in Bangkok, which allows additional nights for more sightseeing and shopping at either end. Or join us on our sun-and-sand extension prior to the tour, which takes you to the famed floating markets of Thailand, the monkey-populated mountain temple of Khao Wang, and finally the luxury beach resort of Hua Hin, on the picturesque Gulf of Siam. Naturally, we've arranged a special cooking class at the hotel -- and still plenty of time to bronze in the sun.

Please get back to us about any special needs, requirements, or for general questions. Although we market our tours exclusively through San Michele Travel, we are independent operators. We strive to give you efficient, yet personal, service. But we are a small operation. If we don't get back to you immediately, it is probably because Morrison and I are scouting new ports afar. We try to respond to our emails regularly -- but in some parts of the world, daily access isn't possible.

Again, we thank you for your interest, and look forward to putting a face to your correspondence.

MEKONG HERITAGE FOOD TRAIL
March 15- 30 2003 - View Itinerary

Wade along the Mekong's Food Trail of Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand with Globetrotting Gourmet™ Robert Carmack, author of "Thai Home Cooking" and "Vietnamese Home Cooking," and partner Morrison Polkinghorne in March, 2003. Cooking and culture fuse in cacophony of food-filled fun in the next of a series of FoodTOURS Asia hosted by these two intrepid globetrotters. Discovering a country's culture through its cuisine is the idea behind these tours. This March tour follows their earlier success in November sampling the regional dishes of Thailand. Numbers strictly limited.

Our small deluxe tour group begins and ends in Bangkok, then heads to the hinterlands of the ancient capital of Luang Prabang in Laos, a week in Vietnam -- Hanoi, Saigon, and the UNESCO heritage port of Hoi An -- then to fabled Angkor Wat at Siem Reap in Cambodia. Special cooking classes, market tours with running commentary, and most meals included.
